Damage assessment and seismic performance evaluation of a historic Ottoman mosque, addressing both existing deterioration and seismic vulnerability. The project required understanding of historic masonry construction techniques, evaluation of damage mechanisms, and development of approaches to improve seismic performance while respecting the building’s architectural and cultural significance.

Assessment methods were adapted to the specific challenges of historic religious architecture, where conventional analysis approaches often prove inadequate and engineering judgment must be informed by understanding of traditional construction logic.
